Libros de Divulgación Científica sobre el Origen del Universo

El histograma muestra el número de libros de divulgación científica sobre el tema del origen del universo que se han publicado cada año desde 1985. En este periodo de 23 años el promedio es de 2 libros por año, pero se nota una mayor concentración alrededor de 1995. El aumento de publicaciones a partir de 1990 se puede atribuir a los proyectos COBE y al Telescopio Espacial Hubble de la NASA que despertaron un interés fuera de la norma por parte del gran público y de los medios de comunicación. Curiosamente observamos un vacío entre los años 2000-2005, posiblemente producidos por la confusión resultante de las observaciones de la expansión acelerada del universo (corrimientos hacia el rojo de supernovas tipo Ia). Sin embargo, nuevos libros comienzan a aparecer a partir del 2005 cuando los datos de la sonda satelital WMAP permitieron dar coherencia al modelo estándar de la cosmología moderna.
